hey hey

at times when i print things.. square sections of my ai file are missing. so i have black areas where on the screen it is otherwise. Some times I can fix it by rasterizing things in certan ares where its not printing correctly. Any ideas how this could be happening.

It's a memory error on your printer. Try spooling first although there will be situations where that still happens. Sometimes having a non-whole number gradient angles/values will do that too. ie. 92.43 degrees wont print but 92 degrees will. Sometimes I will print to file, distill it, open the .pdf back in AI and find and delete the square, it is usually part of an artboard sized mask.
