Hello all,

I have numerous reports that require a wide printer driver. I have followed all the suggestions to make this printer driver available.

a. All crystal services run under an NT admin account
b. The server itself runs under the above's login
c. The printer is available to the same NT admin account from the server (actually it is the exact same printer the reports are developed under).

When I add a wide driver report to the server, in all but the HTML viewer the page is truncated to ~11".

I can open the downloaded report on the server (from my local share), and to me, the report looks fine.

To actually get the report to start showing the entire wide page:

While physically logged onto the server as the admin, open the report, reset the printer setup settings, and save.

I don't have the admin logon, or physical access to the server, so needless to say, my server manager isn't exactly pleased with this. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to get these to start viewing correctly without having to go in as the admin?

Thanks in advance,

Lisa

I had a similar poblem recently.

The solution in the Crystal Decisions web site document no C20008724.
here is a extract from the document..
In order to present the correct report format at view time, the Crystal Page Server and Crystal Report Job Server must be running under a user account that has access to the wide printer driver. The System account cannot access printer drivers; therefore, the service must run under a valid user account with the correct rights. Without access to the printer driver, Crystal Enterprise will use the default page format of 8.5" x 11".

Create a account with admin rights.
I also set the default on this printer to the wide paper.
(the same as the report)

It seems to work okay now.

Goodluck

I actually had done that.. it didn't work. I think it is another of my BDC issues. I also have found that 11X17 will carry across.. but 11X17 wide will not... go figure.

The printer driver I used was a HP DesignJet 350C (E/A0).
The paper used was IS0 OS A0 900x1245mm.
I develop on Win2k Pro and the CE server is Win2K Server.
Having the printer driver exactly the same is important.
If you develop reports on Win98, the driver may not be the same and may not work.
I have been using landscape/wide printing okay for a month now.
I am also using the Active X viewer.

If this doesn't work.... try the tech support line. There are a few hotfixes fo CE.
My server versions are...
The APS is ver 8.5.0.899
The WCS is ver 8.5.0.854
The cache, page server is ver 8.5.0.887
The event, report, input, output server is ver 8.5.0.806
I think the server is just a host that is a member of the domain. Its not the a BDC.

Hope this helps.

Ah.. CE is not a BDC, but my server that I have CE on is. There are a lot of issues relating to it.. I have to run my page server as an app instead of a service to connect to an oracle DB... I have this printer driver problem.. auto NT logon doesn't work.. the printer driver is the least of my problems. They all relate to how CE asks for permissions.. and is denied because it doesn't ask correctly for a BDC (or doesn't give depending on how you look at it). I have been informed that Crystal "officially" doesn't support CE 8.5 on a BDC.. although they do (did) 8.0. So when I call with a BDC problem, they tell me they will check it out when I upgrade.. so they have stuck me with an expensive maintenance contract that I essentially can't use until I have new hardware available... a catch 22 if I ever saw one.
