Hi,

Perhaps someone has an helpfull tip for for this problem:

The Wan Interface Card is not recognized by the Cisco router (type 2620). The card is properly inserted but it is not recognized upon booting the router.

The card type is: 1-Port RJ-48 Multiflex Trunk - G.703 VWIC-1MFT-G703.

The next message occur upon booting:

%PQUICC-1-UNKNOWN_WIC: PQUICC([dec]), WIC card has an unknown ID of 0x[hex]

The Cisco TAC gives the following explanation for this mesage:
The software does not recognize the type of WAN interface card (WIC) plugged into the port module.

Recommended Action Check the part number on the WAN interface card (WIC) to verify that it is supported in the Cisco IOS software release operational on the router, or contact your technical support representative.

Cisco IOS version 12.0(5)XK is required, but 12.0(7)T is running, so this could not be the problem.

Suggestions ?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Timme,

Please see the HW/SW compatibilities below. 12.0(5)XK will support the E1 and T1 varieties but not the G.703.
You'll need at least 12.1(1)T to use the G.703 intf.

2600 VWIC-1MFT-E1=
12.0(5)XK, 12.0(7)T, 12.0(7)XK, 12.1(1)T, 12.1(1), 12.1(5)YB, 12.2(1)
2600 VWIC-1MFT-G703=
12.1(1)T, 12.1(5)YB, 12.2(1)
2600 VWIC-1MFT-T1=
12.0(5)XK, 12.0(7)T, 12.0(7)XK, 12.1(1)T, 12.1(1), 12.1(5)YB, 12.2(1)

Hope this helps,
Phil. if we knew what we were doing all the time, we'd probably be bored.

I'd go for 12.1.5T. It's probably the best one that supports that VWIC.

I wouldn't touch 12.2.1 until it becomes more stable.

In case you're wondering, the G.703 VWIC supports clear channel/unframed G.703. This means that it can run at the full 2.048Mbps. The E1 version does not.
