Hi,

I've noticed engineers have set Google's DNS on one of our maintained IPOs. Does anyone know why DNS might be required? Other than some of the higher-end phones that allow browsing, I'm not sure what this would be used for.

Cheers,

Dave.

You can use it for a SNTP time server or a SMTP server name instead of IP address etc etc :)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Why didn't you just ask the maintainer ? :)

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

For the DHCP if the IP Office is used as DHCP server?

I'd ask the installer/maintainer.

Most likely for a SSL VPN Service or for SMTP/SNMP for alarming out to your monitoring service, if any. Also, email forwarding if embedded voice mail.
