Why wont my Free Trnsform tool work correctly?

I should be able to shear and implement perspective using this tool, but it refuses to do anything but rescale and rotate, as per a regular selection.

I've looked in help, but no luck.

What are you trying to use it on? If you're trying to distort a bitmap image, that won't work unless you put it in an envelope first.

If it's just plain broken, try deleting your aiprefs file. See this previous message:
