Why won't Adobe programs quit? 1

When I need to shut down/restart the computer, I quit out of all my programs. For some reason, the Adobe programs take forever to quit and most of the time I have to force quit out of them. If I hit Restart without quitting them first, it times out -- usually because of Illustrator. I'm on OS 10.2.8 with CS versions of everything. I can quit all my other programs while I'm waiting for one Adobe program...

One of the problems is the size of their font cache after prologed use. Adobe uses its own font caching system. If you use a great number of differnet fonts, things get slower.

Go to Find in Finder and type in AdobeFnt.lst and see what pops up. Then do the same thing with AdobeFnt07.lst. You can trash these font cachess with the .lst extension as long as none of the Adobe apps are running. A restart is recommended after trashing cache files.

They're still going to be slow to quit, as compared to other apps. They're huge, with all sorts of bells and whistles, and sort of have to put things back where they belong before closing down.

Thanks for the explanation :)
I'll give that a shot!

Hmm... I just searched for both of those .lst files with 0 results. Should I search for the files while the programs are running -- but can't trash them until after I've quit?

Don't have the apps running when you use Find to locate the files. Try looking for AdobeFnt. Anything with .lst after it can be trashed.
