Can anyone explain me why anywone would use the Windows 2003 Interim Forest Functional Level instead of the Windows 2000 Forest Functional Level? I know the Windows 2003 Interim mode is automatically set when a NT4 PDC is upgraded to Windows 2003 but why didn't MS just set it to Windows 2000 functional level and left this Interim mode out???
The only reason I can think of is that it could confuse administrators who are upgrading NT4 to 2003 and suddenly see a Windows 2000 functional level. Wouldn't it have been easier to give it a different name instead of introducing another functional level?
Any thoughts????
