Why so many segments on NNM maps?

Hi,

Have two Win2k NNMs (6.2 & 6.4) on two seperate networks. Both sets of maps seem OK apart from some maps where there are hundreds of 'Segment xxx' objects.

These appear to be due to NNM thinking that every switch port is a seperate segment..which I suppose it is in bridging terms... but this completely messes up the map. Over a thousand objects on a map of around 80 devices. Nasty!

Any ideas on how to exclude these segments? Had a play with SegRedux and turning off Layer-2 discovery but that didn't seem to help.

I'd be grateful for any help or suggestions

Thanks

Create a filter set. A good source to see how to do that is in the guide to scalability and distribution for NNM that ships with the product.
