Here is the scenario. I had a compaq s6500nx with a 160g hd. I used partition magic and deleted the d drive (about 5 gig). I then installed FC2 and then Mandrake on that partition. I could see the ntfs partition, but would not boot into windows. So I installed another hard drive and used that one as a slave to get all my stuff off of the 160g hd. I then formatted the 160g and reinstalled xp pro. First, I lost 30g. It only recognizes 130 gig out of 160. Then I was downloading drivers from compaq and came across one that I had to put on a floppy and run it at start up. The next time I rebooted, it got the files off of the floppy. Ever since then, I cannot do anything on my computer. It will not boot from cd. I can boot from floppy, but when I go into fdisk, it only shows one partition, a 13gig partition. I have no clue what that is and why it would only show one partition. I cannot boot into safe mode and it takes 5 minures or so to boot into xp pro. Why would it do this. I know I screwed things up when I deleted the first partition and installed linux on it, I messed up the MBR. Why would I lose 30g of hd space? Why does it take so long to boot?
