Specs = Dell Poweredge 4400 server/Dell PowerVault 120T Dlt 7000 Autoloader/ArcserveIT 6.61 Advanced edition

Problem = I setup backups for this system which has about 140 gigs of data on it. The backups were taking about 5 hours each night, which was fine. All the sudden the backups now take between 12 and 14 hours. The function of the server has not change and neither has the backup jobs. The backups run throught the middle of the night so this server is not being use for anything. Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciate. Thank You ! ! !

You need more information. You should look in the activity log and see which items are taking a long time to back up.
This may tell you where the problem is.
If you need to, In Arcserve Server Admin utility you can enable the Activity Log to give you a more detailed log in the next backup, by choosing "Debug".
You can also clean up the database. What you will use to do that depends on your setup......
1. Standard Raima database use Arcserve\dbmgr.exe
2. Vldb (very large database) use Arcserve\vldbutil.wri
3. Sql need to use Sql utilities
Also be sure to update 6.61 Adv Ed. to Service Pack 2A.
Be careful of corruption in the database, which happens sometimes. Check the Arcserve\Temp directory for a huge backlog of junk files. Check the ArcServe\Database directory for files that look like this - rAAAAAAA.chg
That should be the only one there.
If there are other files there that look like that then you have corruption in the database and you may need to reinstall Arcserve.
Good luck
