why result in report is different from database?

hello all,
I has a report. however, the result of this report is different from the result that sql I executed in the database which cognos linked. The result in report is less than that in database. why?

thanks!

step1: Check the SQL that Cognos pretends to generate.
step2: Run a trace on the database to see what is actually executed when the report is run.
