when "w" is run as none-root user w works ok / fast.

in the system there are about 20 users logged in - some of them use citrix client and some exeed client opening CDE session.

any ideas?

thx in advance,.!

try

truss w

Then

ps -ef |grep pts/xx

where pts/xx is the last one listed in the truss output before the hang, this should give you the problem login.
