I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I was wondering the advantages/disadvantages of PHP and the differences between PHP & Perl.

Thanks Ronnie

PHP was created for the express purpose of writing web applications, so there is a lot of code available for doing web related stuff.

PHP language syntax sucks slightly less than Perl but is far more object oriented than Perl.

As with any language you can write excellent code and crap code in each.

Except asp. The results are always crap [thumbsup].

I wish someone would just call me Sir, without adding 'Your making a scene'.

On a more relavant point though.

Perl and PHP are pretty similar in the tasks they can perform.

They can both talk to databases.
Can both be run from the command line.
Can both interact with your MTA (Mail transfer agent).
The list goes on. There both very solid languages, go with what you prefer.

I would agree with ericbrunson about phps' syntax is easier to work with than perls.
