Why nobody helped me out with sound on/off problems??? 2

Hi, there

Maybe I didn't put it clear of what exactly my problem is like. Now I say that again, and hopefully, someone can understand and help me out.. Thank you!

I have two sound on/off buttons, which are made in Flash. I then embedded them in dreamweaver. Something strange happened. When the two sound buttons are turned on, I clicked on Either of the button, then both of the sounds stopped. But I just want each button controls itself, while not both of them...

it looks to me that when u turn on the second sound the first stops...try instead of doing two sepearate buttons put them both into 1 swf then export that swf into your page....i think

actually when u turn teh button on teh right on first then the button on the left on then the sound from teh first one is stopped....i really dont now why that happens

The first reason I didn't jump on this one (although I did download your package) is because, at least in my case, you've rarely acknowledged anything back to me on some of my answers to you. A simple thanks does help sometimes! I don't work for Tek-Tips or Macromedia and spend a lot of time on this forum trying, to the best of my knowdledge, to help such users as yourself, and I don't like the arrogance with which you've entitled this thread alone, not to mention your usual aggressive wording!

That being said, I did have a quick look at your files, and I do have a few questions for you.
Are you saying this works to your satisfaction in a normal Flash published file and thus making this a Dreamweaver problem?
If it doesn't work to your satisfaction even in a normal Flash published file, am I right in understanding that this would be two seperate movies embedded in one html page and that you want to be able to play both sounds independantly, and that stopping one sound shouldn't stop the other one?

Will have a look into it, but I do have other things to do, so don't expect an answer in the next 5 minutes.

And Oldnewbie, I am really impressed by your mail this time. Sorry for not getting you back for my last question on "html and flash", which is obviously not my intention. I do apologize for that. Tek-tips is my favourite forum due to its usual quick and helpful response. I always feel very very very grateful to those who helped me out though they don't even know who I am. That's why I always say thank you.. And this time, it must be my carelessness. None of the people around me had the comment like "usual aggressive wording" or "arrogance" before. I guess it's the problem of my verbal ability that make my words "offensive"...My God, how dare I be "arrogant" as a newbie???

As for my question, yes you are right. I want to embed two separate flash file into dreamweaver, and find couldn't control both..

Well Jenny, bad news!
As much as I can experiment with it, it seems the use of stopAllSounds does exactly that: stop all sounds, at least when the movies are in the same htlm and even in separate frames in a frameset.
The only way I got it to work was with two browser windows opened at the same time each one holding 1 different movie!
Guess you'll have to experiment with something else!

why not just loose the stop all sounds action and control the music through the mc's..just have the sound play out however she is doing it and have a blank frame to send the mc to to stop the music..seems like a pretty simple fix there old man..you must be working to hard or something..

And BTW, in my book, having 2 sounds at the same time makes as much sense as opening a chat in a too small pop-up because some dude may be happening to look at this on a 15" monitor at a resolution of 800*600 with an AOL browser!

dude you need to relax man i was not attacking you i was just stating the obvious..and as far as the pop up i got that worked out, all is taken care of..and the reason i focus so much attention on aol users with 15 monitors is because after researching the market that will use promaintenance, is for the most part american homeowners who have purchased there computers years ago and have no thoughts of upgrading there systems..just simple, or your typical "this computer is fine, why do i need another one, type people"..an overwhelming amount of 15" monitors and aol users are involved in this scenario..and you know bro you say your here to help but for the last couple days your post have been attacking people(ucfjen) who forget to say thank you or even "let you know that post was helpful"..pathetic..and i am sick of acting like you would be and actual person that i would call a friend..all you want to do is be important some how..and i guess being tek-master of the week is your thge way you will achieve that goal..also pathetic..i was hoping i could get into that script inside the chat and get it into a smaller pop up..but after trying everything i could ( due to lack of knowledge ) i settled for what i could get..but that is ok man because just for you and your smart a$$ mouth, i am going to work extra hard to get where i need to get..learn all the dam scripts and everything else i need to, wouldn't wan't to dissapoint the all mighty teacher himself..

jenny download this fla..you will see what i mean..this is not my work just a fla that i learned from a while back..it does not use the stop all sounds action..just a simple mc using frames to control the starting and stopping..

BTW, this will work... You can have as many sounds as you want all playing at the same time, and stop any of them without stopping the others.
However, please note that these sounds are stream sounds as opposed to event sounds, and that may cause other problems, for instance, in making music loops.
It will loop but the cut will be apparent.
