I have learnt that asp.net is faster in performance than jsp.Also Microsoft has supported the codes of other languages in its .net framework, so why would one stick to jsp(Java as such) & not move - over to the .net

Well, if you had an environment that handled jsp pages, you probably aren't in a microsoft environment
i.e. Apache web server, Web Sphere, Linux/Solaris, etc.
So to start using .NET, you would need to commit more than just the programming language to get it going. Some places might not think that it makes enough sense business wise to make the jump, especially if it means ditching all their current infrastructure just to a new tech can be used.
