Why it's so slow

Hi,all:
I installed sqlserver2000 in my computer two months before.I registered the database from a remote server in my intranet,the transmitting between the two computer is normally all the time until yesterday.Now,after clicking the conncet button,i have to wait at least 5 minutes every time.All the other application using the network is ok.
Anybody who can tell me the reson why the transmitting is so slow,thanks in advanced!!!!!!!!

Couple of things to try: right click on the Lan Connection that you are using and select repair (XP) or disable then enable (W2K); reboot the two computers.
If there's also a long delay in just logging onto your network, then check your DNS entries (primary vs secondary order).
