Why it 's ?locked by myself

Hi, there
I have a file in our network, i'm author of this file.but recently when i open this file , a message pop up saying this file is editing by myself,it's a read only file. Actually none editing this file at this monent.I was courious why this file is lock by myself? if any one has experience about that,pls let me know.Thanks in advance.

I don't know what happened to change the file attribute to read-only but you can change this by using Windows Explore and taking off the read-only flag. Mahalo,

Checked to see if there is a temp file opened in the same directory. For instance lets say you have a document called test.doc. When you open the document in Word and start editing the file it will create a temp file called ~test.doc. If the application closes the file correctly the file beginning with the tilde (~) should be deleted. If the app did not close the file correctly it still may leave this file open and the application may thing the file is already opened.

One other factors since you mention it is on a network is that a virus scanner program may be locking the file. Innoculan is known for doing this if the program is not configured correctly. joegz
