Why is the format of a field not exported? 1

Im using some code to export a table to excel, but the two fields that should be currency, arent exporting as currency, even though the table field format is set as currency and the excel field is set as currency. Excel thinks the values are text but i need to sum up the values in another cell.

Does anyone know how to fix this. Any help is much appreciated.

Have you tried formatting the export field to, say, double in the export query? This should get rid of the currency symbol, which is probably causing the problem.
