Why is the check box on my PopUp form not working?

I have a pop up form linked to a Customers table with a check box linked to a yes/no field. The form only has one check box, yes. Table and field properties are both set Yes to data editing and entry. On checking Yes a new blank record is entered with the Yes checked on the table, but I can't get it to enter the yes in an exisiting record.

there must be some code 'under' the check box doing this. an event
