Hi! I converted an Access 97 Database to Access 2000 recently. After the conversion, when I will try to open a report in design view it will take about 3 or 4 minutes to open and my BD grow up about 14 meg. Can anybody can help me on this problem.

My report have many sub report and many complex query in it but with ACCESS 97, I have no problem.

My exploitation system is Windows 2000 Professional.

THANK YOU!!!!

I used to have this problem myself and the reason is because when you open a report access goes through every field in every query/table in every report/subreport and checks for it to be there. And I used to have it through an ODBC data source which was slow to respond so when I went into design view it would take upwards of 5 minutes sometimes. It would not do it in a simple query or with local tables, so I started to import the data and make local tables which were faster to respond when I worked with the ODBC data.

Access will continue to grow your database unreasonably! From time to time go to "Tools", "Database Utilities", "Compact and Repair Database". When I last did this my largest database shrunk to one third of the size it had grown to, and everything seemed to speed up. I'm told it's because of all the SQL code left when I have deleted controls on forms and reports. I dunno...

gusbrunston is correct. My database went from 25mb to 75mb in one day..and all i was doing was testing different code..

what i do is, once im done with a project i then open a new database and import the tables, forms etc...into a blank db..the database that was 75mb, once i did that dropped down to about 18mb...also if your running windows2000 i have noticed since putting sp2 on my machine access takes longer to respond..

good luck DVannoy
