Hey,

Its Jesse here, how do i upgrade my 16 color scheme to a better one? when ever you wanna look at pictures someon sends you, all you see is a bunch of dots trying to make the picture. its rediculous. how do i fix this problem?

Hey,

Its jesse again, i let my friend have my better moniter when my old computer broke. the colors on that computer was godly compared to what i have now. if i get that newer more up to date moniter back will it fix my problem with 16 colors?

because i remeber it saying 256 colors with that one

The problem isn't the monitor; 16 or 256 colours means that the correct graphic adapter drivers aren't loaded so the computer is defaulting to a generic graphic adapter driver that doesn't provide any better support.

Do you know what graphics adapter you are using or can you tell us what is the make/model of PC? This info will help us to help you.

hey,
i have a compaq presario 5062 and my moniter is a compaq presario mv500. how do you tell what kind of graphic adapter you have?

hey,
i was searching in the control panel, and i think i found what you were looking for. it says i have a standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)

Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)"
That Just means it doesn't have the proper drivers for it, so it can't identify it.

According to the Compaq Website, your Pc has: ATI Rage LT Pro as it graphics adapter. and these are the drivers.
Drivers

Download them and install them.

Thank you everyone for your help and support. next time i have a problem i'll come directly to you guys.

Thanks for reminding me to give them the purple sta4rs

Since you were able to help that person with their VGA driver problem... I was wondering if you could possibley do the same for me. I have been searching high and low all over the internet to find the answer and fix my VGA problem so that these spotted dots that are trying to put together a picture gets fixed. So far I havent found anything that makes any sence or works. I have a pavilion M50 moniter and it is only useing 2/16 standard PCI graphics adapter. how can I find a driver that will upgrade and take care of this problem? If you can help me that would be great. THanks.

How about starting a new thread with your problem. There are lots of helpers here that won't bother to look at a thread this long and with all the stars.

How about including the computer model. The monitor works with the output of something else, and the something else is important. An assumption would be that you have a HP Pavilion, but there are lots of models of them.

I agree with edfair, you should start a new thread, and tell us what brand/model PC you have.

If you go into Device Manager, what does it say you have for your display Adapter?

Also Can you describe the problem a little better. I gather you see small dots. It might be your video card is faulty, but then again we can't know that without further details.

Well I have a emachine for my tower and the only reason that my monitor is a Pavilion M50 is because my monitor that went with my tower quit working. Im not to much of a computer person so Im not sure where to find the Device Manager information. Im not sure if its just because my tower is old me my monitor is newer or what. But it only lets me pick between 2/16 colors and on 16 colors it has all of these colored dots that are trying to make out the pictures and background color. I wish I knew how to describe it better. If it is the video card is there any way of fixing it or do I have to go and buy a new tower to fix the problem?

The double post is not required.
