The have just bought 2 Sun Linux Server. They are running Red Hat it was pre-installed. As was Samba and Apache. The version or Apache is (Apache HTTP Server Version 1.3) I have gate me server and ip address and i thought it was just a matter of going online then. By the way this is my first time using Linux (I've only ever used windows so forgive me). I was wondering how do I config apache and do you have to compile it? I'm really now sure so if anyone can help please do thanks.

Switch to your apache/bin dir and type apachectl start then do ps -e |grep httpd. If you get results back then apache has started if you get no results do the following: cd ..
cd log then do a more on the log file. It should tell you in the file why it is not starting. If you dont understand the log file post the last few lines back to this thread.

Hope this helps
