That may be a question for Microsoft, but I'm wondering why.

I dont want to have IIS running on my SQL Server - it isn't a webserver.

any ideas? JOhn

Thanks JayKusch,

I was so looking forward to using RS but now I'm not so sure. Has some robust functionality but our SQL Server is fairly busy already... adding this bloated tool + IIS might be too much for it and I don't think management will spring for another server that could be dedicated to RS. We will see.

IIS is required because web-server based access to your reports is PROBABLY something that you might want to provide to your users ? All BI tools run on a web-server - the idea is improved access to information
