I have several machines with the same version of Fox and Excel. On one I can append to a fox table "type xl5" and it works but on another it says "Microsoft Excel Format Invalid." I am almost positive all of my fox options are identical on both machines. What could be my problem?

Thanks

If I understand you correctly you are appending to an existing XL5 file?

This could be happening. The user has openned the XL5 in say... Excel2000 then saved it and now is no longer XL5 format.

What you might try doing is taking the XL5 table your appending to and setting it's hidden flag to True (do this in Explorer, Right Click, Properties, Check Hidden) so the users can't see it or mess with it easily. Then link the hidden XL5 file to whatever spreadsheet actually needs it.

Good Luck
