Why .gif pictures won't work with Access 2002

I have an Access database created in version 97 that has a picture (.gif) embedded in a form. After converted to Access 2002, the form does not display the picture; however, if I open the picture, with e.g. Internet Explorer, and save it as a .bmp and embed it in the form, it gets displayed OK.

Is it me or Access 2002?

Thanks in advance for any information and regards,

Don't know if this will help since I've only used Access 1.0, 2.0, 7.0(95), and 9.0(2000). I've not used 97 or 2002.

However, in Access 2000 the only way I could get gifs to work was to download the file gif89.dll (from the internet) and register it via regsvr32.
