Why export all reports before installing SmartList Builder?

In reviewing a TK about installing SmartList Builder, it says to export all modified forms and reports before installing it.

Pardon my ignorance, but why is it necessary to export all modified forms and reports?

(And pessimist that I am, the TK doesn't make any mention of re-importing those modified forms and reports after installing SmartList Builder. Would there be any problem with doing so?)

I believe they just want you to make sure that you have a backup of the modified reports and forms in case anything goes wrong with the install. This is there way of protecting themselves
