Why doesn't my font link to InDesign?

I am working at a new temp job and they have just set up the system with Adobe Creative Suite. They have OTF fonts that are used in most of their documents and I finally got them installed on Friday. They were installed in the C:/Windows/Fonts folder (which I have no access to copy from) and still show up as missing in InDesign. I tried activating them in ATM but they don't show up on that list either. Where do I go from here?

Search the hard drive for 'adobefnt.lst' and delete all instances while you have Adobe applications closed. 'adobefnt.lst' is a font database that will be automatically regenerated when you start InDesign. A corrupt or buggy one of these may be to blame.
