I'm new to virtual pc and I'm trying to use it to install a Windows server 2003 vm virtual pc claims it can't install server 2003 on a x86 but um pretty sure my xeon is 64bit I think the problem is in properties virtual pc lists my vm as using an Pentium iii cpu. Is there any way around this? Thanks

Virtual PC doesn't support 64-bit guests so you'll need to install a 32-bit version of Windows Server 2003 on your VM. Alternatively you could use another app like Oracle's VirtualBox which does support 64-bit guests.

The reason it reports your Xeon as a Pentium III is probably because the Xeon isn't on its list of known CPUs. It doesn't know what a Xeon is but it figures out that it supports the same instructions as a PIII so calls it that.
