I have a new Okidata 182 printer connected to a new Gateway computer running windows XP Pro and a parrallel connection. The printer worked fine when I first set it up now it has started printing about 2 lines of gibberish when I try to print a test page. What could be wrong? The Okidata site is absolutely NO help. I thought about reloading the print drivers but Okidata doesn't have them available at their site, only a note that says it's included with Win XP. HELP!

PS I've tried connecting to another computer using another cable but still doesn't work.

Try setting your Parallel port in the BIOS to NORMAL. (If this is a parallel port printer) (( it is a dot matrix, right? )).

Try using an standard printer cable instead of a bi-directional cable. Some older printers had issues with bi-directional cables.

Okidata reports that there are no updated printer drivers for your printer. The generic printer drivers for XP should work with your printer, provided all hardware is set up properly.
