hi guys, i thank you in advance for any help. I have a 16x Nec DVD-+RW DL model A3530 that i purchased about 2 months ago. i have been burning dvd movies fine with it since i bought it till yesterday.

Yesterday when i got home, i tried to copy a dvd movie that i had for a friend and it took 45 minutes for it to create an image for burning at it was writing from 1350kb to 2250kb when it used to do it at 13500kn before. When i started to burn the movie it took about 20 minutes to burn it when the first one i burned took from 6 to 8.

I already have uninstalled it and even reset the bios just incase, but to no avail. I use Nero 6.6 and Nero vision express 3.5 to burn my dvd's and those create the image just fine but when I copy a movie it takes an hour to completely copy it.

Any clues to what could be the problem? i am taking it to where i bought it monday but would like to see if i can fix it on my own if possible, in case it is the program and not the dvd burner it self.

thanks for all help guy's

Luis

It may have to do with the copyprotection on the DVD...

For backing up of DVD's, I generally use CloneDVD from SlySoft.

sorry i didn't mention these dvd movies are not copyrighted. I have burned over 50 of them and i started to have this problem with one movie i had burned several times, it does the same thing with different dvd's.

Thanks and sorry i didn't mention it before.

any more suggestions will be appreciated.

With that added info:

I would think that the DVD in question, is either scratched, or the BLANK DVD is not correctly recognized by the DVD Burner...

The DVD could be dirty, it also could be that your FILTERs (Upper and Lower) are damaged and need to be reset...

you might be on to something Ben, question though are you familiar on how to reset the filter? or do you think i should just take it to the shop where i bought it and get a new one from them, it is under warranty.

also any dvd burners that you would recommend?

thanks for everything.

To fix try the following:

open the Registry Editor...

START, RUN, type in Regedit... search for the following KEY and delete it:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"

Without the quotes ofcourse...

then exit the RegEdit and go to the 'Device Manager' and uninstall all CD-ROM's, DVD's, and CD-RW's...

REBOOT...

let windows reinstall the drives...

thanks ben i tried it and it didn't work, no biggie though. I still had warranty just didn't want to take it to the shop if i could fix it. I ran some diagnostics and it would only burn and read at 2X so i paid the diference of $ 3.50 and got me a new samsung dual layer, quite nice actually i'm very happy with it so far.

I thank you very much for your time Ben

Another thought if you are burning the same disk over and over you may want to just keep the original ISO around if you have the drive space.
