why does my database lock some time?

There's always a reason.
Is the server full?
Do you have the Default Open Mode set to EXCLUSIVE or SHARED?
What exactly happens? You say people have to "log off" then "log back on again" in another post. Does this mean that you have Access security instilled?
Has the DB operated properly in the past, but is now faulty? If so, what has changed between then and now?
What version of Access do you and all of your users have?
What version of Windows do you and all of your users have?
