Why does Mappoint '02 Stops Responding When Splash Screen comes up?

I can't get Mappoint 2002 to run. For some reason when I try to start Mappoint, the splash screen comes up and it stops responding after that, nothing else happends after that. I tried installing it and running it on two different XP systems and both give me the same problem.
