When I start IE, the opening window comes up for a few seconds but then turns itself off. Outlook works just fine to go to my websites and Netscape works fine also. I've never seen this problem posted on any website anywhere. Any gurus out there have a clue what is happening?

First of all is it rebooting or shutting down? My guess is it reboots. If it is rebooting, right click my computer go to properties, and choose advanced. Under the advanced tab click the button for startup and recovery. Uncheck, automatically reboot. This way you will actually see the BSOD. The BSOD should give you some insight as to what is going on. Also if it is just happening in IE, try to reinstall it from the XP cd. After you try these things, and if you can't find an answer or solution, please let us know. Jason Wichman

No, it's not rebooting. It just turns itself off. Everything else runs normally. If I repeatedly restart IE, once in a while it will catch and work for a few minutes. Could this be virus activity? I run Norton AV with all the current updates and have found nothing with a full system scan. I also turned off all background proggies so there was nothing interfering with IE's operation. I am stumped.

Re: IE 6.0 problems

Run each of the following from start/run to re-register these files.

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

Might solve your problem... Good Luck.
