Hello freinds,

I have 4 DTS packages that imports different parts of an excel file into various tables based on some conditions. The DTS packages works very well. But then after executing the packages the following happens :

(1) If I double click any excel file to open then MS Sexcel opens and then hangs, means all I can see is the top part of the Excel program.

(2) If I manage to open Excel by itself then it opens fine and then from the File>Open option it allows me to open any excel file.

But its really annoying because of the problem (1). I relaly donno whether I am doing anything wrong in my packages or is it that this is a known problem with no solution Or someone knows what i am doing wrong please do help me.

Rgds

It seems to me something has opened Excel and hasn't closed the application properly. You can get rid of the prob each time by going to your task manager, processes, order by name, and end any EXCEL processes. I don't know if there's anything you can do within the DTS package to stop it, but I doubt it.
I have the same problems with applications I have written - I can catch it most of the time but not always.
