I'm trying to download all the messages in my gmail account for backup. This is 1000s and 1000s of messages. But when I download them into my desktop client (I've tried both Outlook 2007 and Thunderbird 2.0) they only download emails in chunks of 300-400. Then I have to rehit "send/receive". Is there an option to tweak so there's not this limitation? thanks.

Why does desktop email client only download 300-400 msgs at a time?
