Why does D7 freq'tly go off & do things in the background?

Delphi disappears for upto 15secs at a time, quite frequently, with a wait cursor and it's annoying. It does it any time not necessarily on code completion parts. I'm not sure what it's doing. I can click in a blank spot of a form or unit and it goes off for a while and gives me the wait cursor again. I don't recall D5 being so bad. Are there any settings I could look at which may stop it from doing it?
