I am using Access 2000 (SR1) for a multi user database.

Advanced options set are:

Default record Locking = edited record
Open databases using record level loacking is selected.

When two users are editing the same record on a form, the second person to save changes receives the standard warning about the data having been changed by another user. If the user chooses 'drop changes' all is well and the second user's changes are ignored. If the user chooses 'Save record' to insist that the chnages from the first user will be overwritten, the whole record is trashed and filled with very big or very small numbers and square boxes depending on the data type. It is only possible to delete this rubbish from the underlying table after a compact/repair has been run. Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong or is this a Microsoft 'Feature'!

It is set up 'optomistically' not expecting this ever to happen. You have to be smarter than the machine to catch this one!
