Why do Project Costs start 1-month early? 1

I'm puzzled by seeing all my project costs start to show up one month early. This is for a major $1.5 million 2-year grant where the official grant contract start date is 7/1/13. However, I've started the plan in MS Project on 4/1/13 so I can track some pre-contract tasks. I've created a milestone called "Contract Start" on 7/1/13, and I've made it the predecessor of all of the seven major contract Tasks (and their numerous sub-tasks). The Gantt Chart view shows all these tasks correctly starting on or after 7/1. However, when I show the Resource Usage - Cost view, I see all the major cost items beginning in June.

What am I missing?

BTW, I'm using MS Project 2013 Pro; on a newer Lenovo Thinkpad laptop with lots of horsepower (RAM, GBs, CPU speed)

Would appreciate any ideas?

Great. Glad to know the CU has things sorted out and thanks for the feedback.
