Why do my files have ".vbs" extensions???!!

Can someone please help me? two days ago, i found out that when i downloaded some mp3s and image files like .bmp and .jpg, they turned to .vbs! I changed the extension but the file corrupted itslef. why did this happen and how can i reverse it? thank you for cooperation.

looks like you got hit by ILOVEYOU or some similar virus. It shows how the Microsoft security really is terrible.

When is MS going to stop selling us a system that does loads of things, but nothing good and start to sell something secure and modular that you can add to.

let us know what lindows is like. I'm using XP and Mandrake myself. I like both but have had less problems with security in Linux. Only thing missing though is a good office application. Gary
