I work for a large company that is using SMS 2.0 along with Windows 2000 desktop/servers. Unfortunately we are still running in mixed mode till we can retire all our NT 4.0 BDCs. We have one primary "central" SMS site with the database, and 29 secondary sites scattered across the country reporting to it.
Example:
We created a collection called Frontpage 2000 and advertised the Frontpage package to it. The remote sites have their own collections, populated with their site's SMS client machines. The idea was to have them link their collections to ours so that we don't have tons of advertisements being created. When they LINK their collection to the frontpage collection, the advertisement will never show up on the client machine. If they add a membership query to the original collection (non linked), the advertisement will show up right away.
This has been going on for months and is driving me crazy. It has seriously hurt our remote sites to the point that they are installing software manually rather than wait to see if the advertisements are ever going to show up.
Can anyone offer any insights?
