I am assuming that this has been discussed before (could not find it though) so apologies if this is a common question.
I tend to avoid importing photographic images into Flash, simply because they look so bad when the movie is published. But now I have a simple logo (gif) of two colours that looks good in Fireworks, but all bitty and wrong in Flash.
I've tried Tracing Bitmap, that looks just as bad, and on the “publish settings” I have jpeg quality at 100. So why does this happen? I am sure there must be some way around it, as have seen some quality images in Flash presentations before.
THANK YOU EVERYONE,
Jo

the quality of imported images is highly dependent on whether you rescale them or not. i made the experience that importing images in the size i want to use them (i.e. not rescaling them in flash) provides the best results. regards

...well what i wanted to say is do not resize imported images at all!! import them in the size you need them. and by the way... you can define whether you want to compress a picture during the export. just open the library, select the bitmap, right-click it and select properties. there you can set the compression mode for every picture, either jpg-compression or uncompressed (gif/png). anyway... perfect import size --> perfect file size regards
