to have my video files play properly?

If I open windows media player or real player to watch any video on my computer, the video plays as if someone were holding a transparent red sheet in front of the screen. The videos all have a very bright red wash to them. However, once I open the second instance of that media player to play the same file, it looks perfect. What is going on?!!? Any suggestions??!

First of all I would have a look at replacing MP9 or 10 with MPC (Media Player Classic), this is a great player which has which you can download along with codec packs from I don't bother with the newer MP now.

I also have a question for you about when you launch your files, are these being double clicked or do you run the media player and then file open? Is your mouse double click too fast?

Are both instances of MP the same version numbers? Have you tried setting a file type allocation so that all mp3 or mpg or avi files are opened by a specific program?? Give that a try.
