When I click "My Computer" and the C drive there are 150 folders with file names like: MSI2235b.tmp.

The properties's box indicate that they are .tmp files and their size is 0. What are they? Why are they? Why are they enpty? Should I delete them?

My operating system is Windows 2000 Pro on a AMD Athlon 750 with 640MB.

msixxxx.tmp are temp files from installer, you can just delete them.
the question is why are they there, normally msi installer uses the %temp% variable.
try a new install of msi

how is your temp folder set in userenvironment?
do you have problems with installing software that uses msi installer?
