Why Do Deleted Custom Toolbars Reappear?

Hi everyone,

I created a custom toolbar called Spanish Accents (the name of which is probably enough to explain the purpose of the toolbar). In the process of creating the toolbar, I went through various versions until I got it the way I wanted.

Now, when I Open Word, three such toolbars with the same name are automatically created. As far as I can tell, I have no code in VBA that is doing this. I have tried to right-click the toobar area, choose customize, delete these toolbars, and then reload Word, only to have them reappear. So, here is my question:

Does Word write this information to the registry so it can recreate these toolbars? Does anyone know what might be happening?

It is probably due to the location of the toolbars. By default, if you create a toolbar, it is saved in the normal.dot template. However, if you were using a different temaplte at the time, the toolbar will be save there.

But did you by chance save the toolbar in a separate template and place in the Word Startup Folder so that it is available globally? If you did, you need to open that template and remove the toolbar and save it.

tf1,

That appears to have resolved the problem. I had a global template located in the StartUp folder in which I had evidently saveed the toolbar at some time--though I don't remember doing that. I opened it up and deleted the extra toolbars from there and viola, now Word opens without the toolbar duplicates.

Thanks much,

gsw
