When logged on locally at the server the app sees the sound card just fine. However, when you log in through Citrix or Terminal Server it does not see the sound card so the IP SoftPhone will not work in Road Warrior mode.
Out of curiosity... does the Terminal Server happen to be Windows 2003 Server ??
I have noticed this issue on a 2003 Server - seems to be something to do with 2003 Server drivers, or the way it handles multimedia. I don't think it is specific to Phone Manager, but prevents all sounds being passed to the client.
Have you tried disabling sound - ie. "Leave at remote computer" in the RDP client ?
TS and Citrix can and does send sound to any remote computer just fine on almost any program out there. However, it appears as if Avaya has designed the product to not work with TS/Citrix on purpose as has Cisco and their VoIP products. It is a bit disconcerting considering the growth of TS/Citrix. Every one of our clients uses it within their organization.
Phone Manager Lite and Pro will work under Citrix but not iPhone Manager Pro (IP Phone Manager).
To use the features supported by "Play Sounds" you need to have an audion card properly mapped to the user within the Citrix setup. And be aware that they may be a delay in the playing of the sounds.
If the error messages about not detecting the mixer keeps appearing try adding -nosoundcheck to the command line of the shortcut used to start Phone Manager.
