Hi

I've packaged Visio 2000 using Wise for Windows. When I run the MSI under an administrator, it installs fine. Any user with administrator privileges can open the application. But any user who does NOT have administrative privileges CANNOT open the application.

It starts by giving a brief Windows Installer configuration message, and freezes at the Visio pop up box you see just before the application opens.

I am running the command "msiexec /i package.msi ALLUSERS=1" when I am logged in as administrator.

This should install for all users.

Any ideas why this problem is occuring?

Thanks
ZK

The problem with visio is that it runs custom action visio32.exe /u and visio32.exe /s to (un)registrate visio.
A default user don't have access to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
You can give change prissions for a default user.

A nother workaround is that u exclude the custom acctions.
using a MST file. After installing Visio create a setup capture by running visio32.exe /R. if u add this futures to the MST file, visio must work fine.

You can also activate the policy to "Always run Windows update with elevated privledges"
