Why can't I compare "" to ""?

I have a recordset which contains a record that might be a zero length string ("&quot. However, recRecord("KEY&quot = "" does not return anything (neither true nor false) when recRecord("KEY&quot is empty.

Anyone know why?

Is it actually a zero length string or null..they are different..perhaps test using isnull(recRecord("KEY&quot)
