Why aren't PMS values consistent in Adobe CS?

Specifically, I am working on a logo using PMS 288.

•Logo designed in Illustrator (eps)
•Placed in InDesign for printing and layout 'n stuff
•Opened in Photoshop to distort and position on a company vehicle (for a visual of size and placement).

In walks my dilemma...

The CMYK values for the PMS are consistent between AI and InD, but not in PS. How can this be??? And which one do I choose? I don't have a Pantone book at my disposal, so I don't know what they have to say.

Now, I plan to print using the spot color (not 4 color process) when it comes time, but I'm just having trouble with the inconsistency between the programs' display of it.

Any advice or knowledge of correcting this out there? I'd appreciate the help.

I replicated your problem using CS versions ot the three apps and Pantone Solid Coated 1795C. The one from PS was much darker than the other 2. I verified the difference with Digital Color Meter.

As a workaround I created a one color box in Illustrator and pasted it into a blank layer in a PS document in order to get the correct red.

I'm taking the liberty of putting a post about this on the Tek-Tips Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop forums to see if anybody has an answer. Unless, I'm very musch off, it seems too be a bug. I reported it to Adobe. i searched Adobe forums and found nothing related.

Got the answer - a little wierd but it works.

If you use Pantone Solid in Illustrator & Indesign, use the Pantone Solid to Process in Photoshop for things you're going to import into ID or ILL. The colors then match. The pantone numbers are the same in both libraries.
