I am using Microsoft Outlook 2000. About 1 in 5 emails are arriving with the subject line and message text blank. Messages originate from different users including eCommerce companies and friends. I have reloaded Microsoft Outlook and installed security updates, and checked thoroughly for viruses. It still happens. HTML text does not seem to have a problem, only plain text.

I would sure appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Peter

Check to make sure messages are not being sent when they have been composed using the MS Rich Text feature. Sometimes these can come in blank.

Hi

I have solved my own problem, but it might be helpful to others. I had upgraded to the Internet Explorer 6 Beta and it uses a different method of sending or reading emails. I do not quite understand it, but it uses MSN Hotmail instead of POP3, so that emails sent with POP3 cannot be read. I have reinstalled IE 5 and everything works fine again.

Some emails are coming in with blank sender info and subject lines. The font being used is US-ASC11 rather than plain text or html, which have no problems.

I feel like I am talking to myself, but I hope it will assist others. I have just found the answer!

The mlang.dll file is causing all of the problems. What
I needed to do is use SFC.EXE to restore a copy of this file from my Windows 98 SE CD ROM or pull it out of the IE 5.5 distribution.

aeropete, you're not talking to yourself- I just recently ran into the same problem. I wanted to give IE6 a chance, and I'm using Win98 pre-second edition.. is there a way I can fix my problem without reverting back to IE5.5?<br><br>Thank you very much... <p>Liam Morley<br><A HREF="mailto:"></A><br>&quot;light the deep, and bring silence to the world.<br>light the world, and bring depth to the silence.&quot;

Thanks for the tip on using sfc.exe. I had the same problem, lost several important e-mails and had to request they re-send them.

Thanks.

I don't think I have a copy of win98 se ... is there a way somebody could send me the file? <p>Liam Morley<br><A HREF="mailto:"></A><br>&quot;light the deep, and bring silence to the world.<br>light the world, and bring depth to the silence.&quot;

could somebody please tell me how to fix the MLANG.DLL?? I have win98, not SE; I don't recall finding anything about MLANG.DLL. Is there a way I can find this file otherwise? <p>Liam Morley<br><A HREF="mailto:"></A><br>&quot;light the deep, and bring silence to the world.<br>light the world, and bring depth to the silence.&quot;

Thanks alot Pete! This problem has been driving me, (and my ISP service tech) crazy. I was in exactly the same situation, with IE6 beta not un-installing cleanly, so i tried to re-install IE5 and Outlook 2000, but to no avail. I've been using Oulook Express to read the blank e-mails, which i left on the server, because it was still working. Anyway....thx again....you're my new hero! :) L8r!

I have the same problem (running Oulook 2000 & IE 6.0 beta). The mlang.dll is in my system directory, is it likely it's corrupted?

Anyway, Microsoft has just posted a IE 6.0 fix for the blank e-mail problem (it can be found from the IE homepage). I've installed it and will wait a few days to see if it solves the problem.

Hope this helps,

is it a seperate executable that will fix the problem even if you don't have IE6 (I've long since deleted it), or is it part of IE6 now?<br><br>Thanks.. <p>Liam Morley<br><A HREF="mailto:"></A><br>&quot;light the deep, and bring silence to the world.<br>light the world, and bring depth to the silence.&quot;

Peter,
I am having that exact same problem and it is very frustrating. Please let me know if you find a successful resolution to this problem.
Thanks,
Victoria

Victoria, if you take a look directly above your post you can see a link to a patch from Microsoft. It worked for me. <p>Liam Morley<br><A HREF="mailto:"></A><br>&quot;light the deep, and bring silence to the world.<br>light the world, and bring depth to the silence.&quot;
