Why are my columns not diplaying?

We are using outlook 2007 with exchange.
I am trying to display the sender's phone number in the inbox view and nothing works.I have tried everything...
I am using the column chooser.The telephone number column stays blank even though there is a phone number in the contact property.

Can someone help me?

That's because items in the Inbox are ipm.note, which doesn't have a phone number field. You can only use fields for the same type of item that the folder contains.

Well In that case why is outlook allowing me to add a column if it's not gonna be visible anyway?

Well, you can add that field to the Contacts folder.....
